Party Blags!

So I've spent a lot of time in play centres on Saturday mornings over the last few months and, having tried to match them all with my own invitation to the party of ALL four year old parties I made a very necessary decision and completely took myself out of the running.....

Im talking party bags!!! Yes those things parents umm and ahh over have I spent too much have I spent too little, will boys and girls like them, do they have fun things in them, are they suitable and not therefore going to take an eye, ear, little brother or sister out ?

Usually, and I myself was guilty of this at dudes party last year they are full of plastic crap - and yes that is the technical term. But plastic crap makes kids happy you may argue, yes it does... But if you, like me have had to buy numerous lucky dips at markets, numerous cbeebies magazines with plastic playsets attached to the front - (other magazines are also available I might add) and through no fault of your own you have somehow accumulated piles of this stuff, which even, when all put together, does nothing!

So, this year I took a party bag stand and decided I would say NO to the plastic crap in a bag this year! A bold brazen move I know! Would other parents be appalled at the emptiness and quite frankly minimalist approach I had taken to party bag etiquette this year? I hoped so, but also I silently applauded myself and even gave myself a standing ovation when (hardly) filling them this year with bubbles (mandatory) in a pirate (for boys) or princess (for girls) 2 lollipops and a piece of superhero cake! I mean party bags are great when your little, but lets face it even as an adult, all you really want is the cake !
