Fathers Day is fast approaching and I don't think it gets the attention or fanfare of Mothers Day which is slightly unfair. So in the spirit of "parent celebration days" I thought It's dads turn, with my Ode to Dads everywhere!
Dad, Papa and Daddy
There are many different ones
But one thing they have in common
Is they are always really fun!
They teach you how to sword fight
And how to ride a bike
They also teach you lots of things
Your mama wouldn't like!
Like Star Wars and Darth Vader
And Iron Man and Thor
And other superheroes
That mothers find a bore!
But who needs superheroes
When you have one that's called Dad
He reads you bedtime stories
And tips you upside down when sad
He gives you rides up on his back
And plays all day ninja fights
He takes you out on windy days
And helps you fly your kite!
Dads don't always get much credit
Cause they didn't push you out
They had to stand there patiently
And watch you pop right out! *
So on Fathers Day its time this year
To treat him like a king
Buy him socks, or chocolates
And some other dad such things
For what would we do without them
Cause dads are the most fun
The teach you all the cool stuff
And the aftermath, that's MUM!
(* No child in the history of any children being born has any of them - just "popped right out!")
