To Hyphe-nate or not to Hyphe-nate THAT is the question?

I have a long, hyphenated name and I love it! I love that when I got married I was able to keep my surname and add my husbands not quite as long surname to mine to merge my single and married lives together. I love that being the youngest in the family I am able to carry on our family's heritage which has travelled all the way from Wales to Australia, and back to Edinburgh. What I also love is that my little dude has the same hyphenated name as me and it works so well with his first (short ) name!
What I don't love is the fact that it seems such a hassle for everybody else ! Couriers, people I email for work, making appointments, signing forms, my own family! About 80 % of people seem to find my now hyphenated name a chore to fully complete, I always get my first name and the last HALF of my name as though my full name is so difficult and I don't quite understand what all the fuss is about.
Have I passed this annoyance onto my dude for people to tut and tsk about under their breath everytime he gives his surname, only for them to only complete the end half of it ? I hope not, I hope that his wonderful, individual surname which is full of character is something to be proud of rather than an annoyance to him and something of a burden in years to come.
I love that he will carry two halves of a family history which are so different and have been passed onto him and his future family... That is, unless his future wife keeps her own surname...
Now that's another matter entirely...
