So, I had heard cheese toasties were popping up all over London as part of the street food revolution, with cheese toastie cafes becoming the new thing, as well as cereal cafes - they only serve cereal !!! ( Fonzi jumping the shark if you ask me but there you go !)
So I was very keen, mostly out of curiosity as I am an avid lover of toasties but did wonder how this would translate to a cafe, bit dull ? would people pay for cheese toasties? would they be proper toasties or just a posh version ....
Well visiting Scotlands very first cheese toastie cafe Meltmongers on Bruntsfield Place alleviated these fears, as its quite simply.... AWESOME!!
The menu is simple but pretty much everything you would want in a toastie, with options such as three different kinds of cheeses with different chutneys, "burger style" toasties and sweet potato, wedge style and normal fries.. For those of you with a bit of a sweet tooth ( pretty much everyone with children just for the energy levels - clearly... ) they do sweet versions with marshmallow toasties and banana melts, amongst others ...

They also do the usual teas and coffees. It's such a simple idea, but it's done really well, in a very simple unpretentious way! Which would have completely ruined it, and, well made me pretty angry!
The decor is simple and there's room to sit in - on benches with stools - though the day we were in it was completely packed, we were extremely lucky to get a seat! The staff were super friendly and the service was quick - especially considering how busy it was on a cold saturday! Luckily, they also do takeaway, which I have a feeling is going to be super popular!
They don't seem to have a website just yet as they are quite new, but check out their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds which, I have a feeling is going to make me completely hungry ...
Super impressed with Meltmongers, an inexpensive, simple concept made real, real food for real people and just the ticket for those of us with little dudes and dudettes, unfussy food, loads of options and easy to eat with little fingers.. Briereally good!
